How Acupuncture & Reflexology can support you during IVF

Recent studies have shown that having Acupuncture alongside assisted fertility treatments such as IVF can increase the chances of getting pregnant for women.

Whether you’re preparing for your first IVF cycle, approaching treatment differently after an unsuccessful round or already taking medication, I’m here to help you feel informed, nurtured and supported.

Drawing upon more than 20 years of experience and advanced fertility training, I use Acupuncture, Reflexology and personalised nutrition, supplement, lifestyle changes and fertility counselling to support you throughout your IVF journey.

Jo's IVF support may help with:

✓ Egg recruitment and maturation
✓ Healthy uterine blood flow before embryo transfer
✓ Some IVF medication side effects
✓ Endometriosis and PCOS symptoms

Your complementary IVF support will be shaped around your fertility history, previous cycles, medication and lifestyle – and planned carefully alongside your clinic-led treatment.

Your IVF support programme

1. Preparing for IVF

2. Egg retrieval

Where time allows, we'll begin Acupuncture treatments, herbs and nutrition two to three months prior to the start of your medication to prepare your body for treatment.

Support at this stage may help:

  • Help stabilise your body

  • Support healthy blood flow to the uterus

  • Help you manage some medication-related side effects

3. Support Before and After Embryo Transfer

Receiving Acupuncture 24 hours before and after embryo transfer can provide a calm, supportive pause around an important stage of your cycle.

Before egg collection, sessions can provide time to relax and release tension. After egg retrieval, treatment may focus on relaxation, general comfort and helping you manage concerns such as bloating, tension and OHSS. Sessions can help to relax your body and drop stress receptors, preparing for embryo transfer and improving lining quality.

4. The two week wait

The wait between embryo transfer and your pregnancy test can feel incredibly long. Weekly or twice-weekly treatment can support implantation and help calm the nervous system.

5. After your pregnancy test

If your test is positive, support can continue through early pregnancy and beyond, with each appointment adapted around your symptoms. If the result is not what you hoped for, you’ll still have a calm space to process what has happened, care for yourself and consider what you need next.

How we've helped our IVF clients

Lily, 5* Google Review

"After a couple of years trying to naturally conceive and two unsuccessful IVF cycles, I went to see Jo. Jo helped me to realign my focus and nurture my body and mind. Jo is unique in that she can provide reflexology to help rebalance the different hormones, followed by acupuncture to boost circulation and relaxation. By letting Jo use her experience to guide the sessions helped reduce my anxieties and let me focus on relaxing. When we both felt I had made the progress needed I then went for a third round of IVF. My sessions temporarily increased just before the transfer to ensure an optimum internal environment and with this my womb lining was the thickest I'd had that led to a successful implantation. I then continued to see Jo to ensure my body remained a relaxed, healthy environment to sustain the pregnancy and 9 months later gave birth to my healthy, beautiful daughter. "
