Hello, we're Jo and Jenny!
Here at Jo Kirk Therapies, your care begins with being heard. We take time to understand what you’re experiencing, how it is affecting your life and what you would most like support with.
Between us, we bring decades of experience in holistic therapies, extensive specialist training and a shared passion for helping people feel their best. We love working together and combining our different skills to provide truly personalised support.
From our welcoming clinic in Burley in Wharfedale, we offer Acupuncture, Reflexology and CranioSacral Therapy to clients from Ilkley, Otley, Guiseley, Bingley and the surrounding areas.
You’ll also find us at local wellbeing and healing festivals, where we enjoy connecting with our community and helping more people discover the benefits of holistic therapies.

Proudly supporting girls in our community
Our passion for supporting girls and women extends beyond the treatment room. Jo Kirk Therapies is incredibly proud to sponsor the new Burley Trojans combined Under-7s and Under-8s girls’ football team for its first two years!
It’s wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for girls’ sport in our village – and to help give young players a place where they can move, make friends, build confidence and discover what their bodies can do.
Supporting women’s health is at the heart of our work, and we believe that encouraging confidence, connection and positive relationships with movement from an early age really matters. We’re delighted to cheer these brilliant young players on as their team grows!
About Jo Kirk | AoR, BAcC, FHT, MSc (Hons), DipFertAc, MAR
The birth of my 1st daughter, Lilly, in 2003.
The birth of my second daughter, Alannah, in 2006.
I discovered Reflexology at 28 and soon caught the bug – especially after becoming pregnant while receiving weekly treatments.
I continued to use Reflexology throughout my pregnancy and even during labour. My reflexologist was there at my child’s birth and later became their godmother, making her an incredibly important part of our family’s story. After she sadly passed away from cancer, I was inspired to develop my specialist interest in oncology and support clients from diagnosis through to treatment and recovery.
I trained with the International Institute of Reflexology and completed my VTCT qualification in Reflexology, alongside Indian Head Massage and Reiki Healing Levels 1 and 2.
Over the years, I have added a wide range of therapies to support my clients. In 2022, I completed an MSc (Hons) in Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Biomedicine at the Northern College of Acupuncture. I’m also a member of the Association of Reflexologists and the British Acupuncture Council.
My own experiences have given me a special interest in fertility, IVF, women’s health and oncology. I love helping people feel informed, empowered and more in control – whether they’re working towards a family, recovering from treatment or living with a long-term condition. I take a whole-person, client-centred approach, creating an individual treatment plan around each client’s health, circumstances and needs.
Away from the clinic, I live with my partner, our teenage daughter and three small dogs. I also enjoy exploring as many National Trust and English Heritage sites as possible!

About Jenny Barbour | CSS, FHT, ARR
Hi, I’m Jenny. My journey into holistic therapy began in 2002 when I had pain in my hip that went down into my leg. I visited my GP, who referred me to a physiotherapist, but the pain didn’t go away. So, I went for Reflexology sessions... After 12 sessions, I was completely pain free! This wonderful Reflexologist inspired me to do a Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology.
Experiencing the difference that calm, individualised care could make inspired me to help others feel more comfortable and supported. That personal understanding continues to shape how I work with clients who are experiencing problems like pain, fatigue or nervous-system overwhelm.

As a member of The CranioSacral Society, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists, I’m committed to continually developing my knowledge and expertise. Ongoing specialist training ensures I can bring the most informed techniques, skills and understanding to every session, giving each client the highest standard of thoughtful, personalised care.
My specialist interests include persistent pain, stress and anxiety, menopausal issues and lymphatic issues. I also have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients and people with SEND – when getting to the clinic feels difficult, I may also be able to offer a local home visit.
I would love to welcome you to our calming space at Jo Kirk Therapies and support you on your health journey.
In my spare time you can find me around horses or out walking taking photographs and looking for treasure!

We opened the doors to Jo Kirk Therapies in October 2021, creating a warm, peaceful holistic health clinic in the heart of beautiful Burley in Wharfedale, near Ilkley.
The clinic is just a short walk from Burley in Wharfedale train station and local bus stops, with on-street parking nearby. Plus, everything is on one level, making the clinic easily accessible.
We’re perfectly placed for clients travelling from Ilkley, Otley, Menston, Guiseley, Baildon, Bingley and the surrounding areas.
We’re also rather lucky to have lovely independent coffee shops nearby, a village park tucked behind the clinic and Ilkley just a short drive or train ride away – perfect if you fancy adding coffee, a peaceful stroll or a little retail therapy to your visit!
We were incredibly proud to be named finalists in the 2023 Ilkley Business Awards, but the greatest recognition comes from the clients who trust us with their care. When we say we love what we do, we truly mean it. For us, this has never been just a job – it's about making a genuine difference in so many people's lives.
